    KAL Doodles

    Dates: Saturdays 11am - 1pm
    October 25 (*Bring a pencil & yarn), N
    ovember 8, and November 22

We’ll be using either the Doodle Decks or the Doodle Knit Directory by Jamie Lomax to design colorwork projects. Jamie has created a system that allows you to use her pieces to become a budding colorwork designer. Base patterns for socks, hat, cowl, mitts, or cup cozies are available in the shop and on Ravelry. Choose your base and choose a Doodle Deck or the Doodle Directory. We’ll help you put together your pattern.

There are multiple preferences on how to do colorwork, so this KAL will be a group effort. We’ll be hearing from multiple people on what their preferred method is. This will give you options to discover what works best for you!

First class, bring a pencil and have yarn and pattern chosen. If you’d like help picking colors, stop by the shop (and btw, more minis are on the way!)

If you haven’t already, please join our Facebook Group Wild Knits KALs

KNIT IN ONE WITH MARIE GREENE

    Come celebrate with us!

We’re so excited to celebrate with Marie Greene (Salem Local!🎉) on her 5th book, Knit in One, 30 Clever Projects Using One Skein or Less! Order your book here and join us Thursday, October 23, 2:00PM to have it signed.

Patterns in this book are organized by yarn weight and include options for fingering weight, sport weight, and even DK and worsted weight yarns, which are often overlooked for single skein projects. As always, Marie packs this book with smart tips about how to avoid running out of yarn before the pattern ends, yarn substitutions, and more valuable resources for creating classic pieces with modern features. These small-scale designs come together ultra-fast and are perfect for a weekend project or a last-minute gift. Whip out your needles and see how far one skein can go!

    Knit_for_Mental_Fitness

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re excited to welcome David Altman this Saturday at May’s Knit for Mental Fitness (OSH volunteer hat knitters).

David is a Professor at Willamette University and will discuss the relationship between fiber arts, knitting, crochet and mental health. This is such a worthy topic and one dear to our hearts. We hope you’ll join us!

(*Cost of admission = knit + donate a hat 😉).

    Throughout 2025
    February 15, 11:00am -1:00pm - Volunteer Knit Time
(Continues the 3rd Saturday of each month, same time)

We’re excited to share we’ve been invited to partner with the Oregon State Hospital in celebrating the 50th anniversary of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest!

If you’re familiar with it, you know Jack Nicholson wore a knit beanie for most of the movie. Wild Knits has been asked to donate handknit hats throughout the year, with proceeds benefiting the Oregon State Hospital Museum, as well as a nonprofit mental health charity (yet to be determined).

Su Fennern of the Salem Knitting Guild has adapted a 1941 Red Cross pattern found here Watch Cap Pattern

We’re hoping to get future yarn donations, but for now stash is great. The only requirements are that the same pattern and worsted weight yarn must be used (unless you get gauge on a different weight). Color is your choice. Finished hats can be dropped off at Wild Knits. We still have a few details to fine-tune, but you’re welcome to start knitting and join us the 3rd Saturday of each month!
