Welcome 2021! Change doesn’t typically come overnight, but it’s on the horizon! If 2020 taught us anything, maybe it’s to appreciate each other, as well as the ‘small’ joys in life. We have some new happenings around the shop that I’m very excited to share . . .
Can I just say, I LOVE February! Once again, each week we’ll be celebrating one of the best bands EVER with our annual Fleetwood Friday. Every Friday of the month their music will be on in the shop, and if you bring in anything that shows you love the band/any member, you’ll be entered in a drawing. If you can’t make it in on a Friday, post something on social media and tag Wild Knits, or stop in on Saturday.
If you haven’t heard the news, Lindsey Buckingham was recently kicked out of the band . So Lindsey will be hiding somewhere in Wild Knits. It’s safe to say you won’t have to rearrange any yarn, but find him and receive a prize!!

Another reason February is so great: Saturday, February 6 will be Love on a Lamb Day at Wild Knits!! Outside in the courtyard from 11:00 am-1:30 pm, Ironwater Ranch in Albany will be bringing by baby lambs for us to hug/take a selfie. To keep everyone safe, we’ll form a line and go one at a time. To help spread people out, consider coming later in the day! Social distancing and masks are required (except while you're taking a photo). We do have covering outside, so the elements won’t be a factor.
If you’re not familiar with Ironwater, they’re amazing! Check out their Lambentine’s Day event Friday, February 12-14 and March Maaadness March 20 http://www.ironwater.com/. Talk about the small joys! Hugging a baby animal goes a long way in making us smile-inside and out.
In other news...
Have you met Kelly? We have a new employee at Wild Knits. Kelly Forster has experience working in yarn shops, written the book Swatchcloths and has designed many patterns. She’s incredibly talented and happy to share her knowledge. Having the right people working at the shop has been a priority to me and she’s a perfect fit!! Check out her patterns on Ravelry under KIS Designs! https://www.ravelry.
Now that we’re (hopefully!) back to selfish knitting, stop in and check out some of our new product. We’ve received orders from Cocoknits, new colors of Cascade 220SW, Malabrigo Sock, Mora and Washted (with another Malabrigo order coming soon) Kelbourne Woolens and Baltic Fibers (LOVE their new cotton tweed!) We also have orders on the way from Greenwood Fibers and Manos del Uruguay. In addition, we’ve added to our tea inventory, including new flavors of Simpson and Vail and now, New Mexico Tea Company!!
Lastly, I wanted to share an opportunity to show some love and support to a Salem small business that could use it. Epilogue Kitchen is one of Salem's few Black-owned businesses and has faced harassment and vandalism during recent events. If you want to be part of the solution but haven’t been sure where to begin, here’s an opportunity. Check out their menu, place an order and enjoy. That’s it! And if you’d like to increase your perspective of race relations, they have a library of books on the subject https://epilogue-
Epilogue Kitchen and Cocktails is open Friday-Sunday, 4pm-9pm for to-go orders and located just down the street from us at 130 High St. SE! We suggest ordering earlier in the day as their fan favorites sell out quickly!
Covid-19 policy...
As always, your safety is our top priority. We haven’t let our guard down with the cleaning and are still keeping the shop at 50% capacity. Our website is an option if you’d rather not venture out, and we’re always happy to help with your purchase over the phone, https://wildknitssalem.
Thank you for your continued support! Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
