Happy Summer!

We have several events and classes planned to keep us connected this summer. Our group knit/crochet time continues Wednesdays 11-1 and Fridays 4-6. You're also welcome to sit outside and knit anytime. We have the bistro tables or call some friends and bring your camping chairs. It's always a joy to hear people laughing and learning together. We need each other!

Events & Happenings

Fiber Talk

The first Saturday of every Month, 10:30
$10 per Talk

Beginning August 6, we’ll be offering Fiber Talks the first Saturday of the month. A range of topics will be discussed, including fiber characteristics, gauge, and blocking. We’ll also throw in guest speakers and highlight helpful tools here and there. These are not Master Classes, but informal opportunities to bring a cup of tea or coffee, learn, share, and ask questions. Sign-up sheets will be available.

August Talk: To Block or Not To Block
September Talk: Gauge Before Rage

4 Day KAL Cast-On Party

4-Day KAL Cast-On Party
Friday, July 1, 4:00-6:00
BYOCC (Bring your own camping chair)

If you’re participating in Olive Knits Annual 4-Day KAL this year, join us as the pattern is officially released and we cast on! If you’re part of Knit Camp and already have rows on your needles, we hope you’ll join as well. It’s always nice to have someone familiar with the pattern to help with questions. We’ll meet outside, so bring a camping chair. We'll provide the snacks!

Socks on Vacay Knit Togethers

Saturdays, July 9 and August 13, 11:00

If you’re taking part in the Socks on Vacay KAL, please join us. Group knits are a great time to get to know each other and ask questions! Knitted Wit comes out with a new series of National Park yarns each month throughout the summer. If you knit socks with any of these yarns using a Shannon Squire sock pattern (use discount code KEEPITUP22 for 25% off), you can take part in the KAL and our Knit Togethers. You’ll have the opportunity to earn stamps for your postcard, badges and prizes. If you haven’t started but we’ve piqued your interest, let us know. You can join anytime!

Love is Kind Flower Party

Saturday, July 23, all day
Presales Available and Encouraged

I'm especially excited about this event! To celebrate Love is Kind Day, we’re throwing a flower party. An assortment of cut flowers will be available by local grower Christa Harrison of Flowers on Quince. In honor of LIKD, we encourage you to think of someone to share a bouquet with--neighbor, parent, service person... and then, of course, throw one in for yourself! Prices will range from $10 to $20 and quantities are limited, so presales are encouraged. When you pick up your flowers, you’ll receive a coupon for 25% off one item (a sweater quantity qualifies!) and 40% off anything from the sale display good for that day only! If you've been eyeing something special, it's the perfect time to treat yourself-or even think ahead for holiday projects. Call or email to get on the presale list.

Boss Kitty Trunk Show

Friday, August 19 & Saturday, August 20

We have a unique fiber-loving community in Marion County, including fiber artists, weavers, designers, and indie dyers. Boss Kitty are indie dyers right here in Salem, and we've stocked their yarns since shortly after opening. Their colors are vibrant and fun with great saturation. We've knit multiple shop samples with it and are true fans. They’ll be sharing a trunk show of items for inspiration, as well as a selection of yarn you can peruse, squish, and purchase.

Knit Equals Joy 2022 Pumpkin Pattern Release

Each year Carol Herman of Knit Equals Joy designs a new knit pumpkin pattern. Jack-be-Little will be released the middle of August. Stay tuned for the release date! Then once you have your pattern, get knitting and stop in for our annual Pumpkin Palooza (see below).

Summers are so welcome here in Oregon. After months of chilly gray, the blue sky and warm air does our souls a world of good. At the same time, summer is our slowest season. As you're enjoying the outdoors (and we hope you will), please stop in from time to time. From small projects, to iced tea and bright colors, we're here to help you enjoy your summer knitting and crocheting.

Thank you for your continued support! Holly
